Captain

Scott was raised in the Bay of Islands. He spent a lot of his upbringing cruising the Bay of Islands, Hauraki Gulf, South Pacific and Australian coastline on the family sailing yacht. From this grew a passion for travel and sailing. It was only natural then that he decided to study at the New Zealand Maritime School, ultimately obtaining his Diploma in Nautical Science, Unlimited Master Mariner license and Inshore Launch Master license. He started his career at sea at the age of 18 by securing a cadetship with Carnival, the world’s largest cruise ship operator. While working for Carnival he sailed for numerous cruise lines such as Princess Cruises, P&O Australia, P&O UK, Cunard, Holland America Line and Seabourn. Once Scott had obtained his Master Mariner license at 27, he moved into the offshore industry for a couple of years, working on survey and supply vessels off the New Zealand and Australian coasts until he transitioned into the superyacht industry where he earned his first command as Captain. Scott considers the highlights of his career to be navigating the 345 metre, 149,215 gross ton, and only remaining ocean liner still in service today, the Queen Mary II as well as his time serving as Captain on a 77 metre charter yacht in the Mediterranean and Middle East. With his wife and two little ones at home and a desire to keep spending time on the water, Scott decided it was time to transition to a life based on terra firma. From this Silver Wave Yacht Charters was born. Scott is excited to welcome you onboard to share with you some of the best cruising grounds that the world has to offer.
